I was Just wondering if there were any doctors either reading or contributing to this forum.....
A ny doctors on this forum?: I was Just wondering... - Thyroid UK
A ny doctors on this forum?
If there are, I think they'd be afraid to admit it.😎
Tigreg, there are some members who say they are doctors but their credentials are not verified and you should assume that responses are from members who are not medical professionals.
If there are, I am sure their eyes and ears will be open to many of the responses - mostly negative - from the members on here as those who are o.k. on levo wont be searching the internet or those that don't have internet access will continue to suffer without the support of our forum, poor things.
I hope there are a lot of real doctors who are members, even if I'm not keen on the idea of them posting if all they are going to do is defend the status quo that fails us.
They could learn a lot about the lives of their thyroid patients in a way they couldn't hope to do in their normal working lives as doctors.
There are often links to research papers which they would never see otherwise.
Being a member and reading a few posts might instigate a twinge of compassion in some, and might encourage them to raise a dose when a patient begged, do some nutrient blood tests, consider coeliac disease or cortisol testing, when it wouldn't have occurred to them before.
On the other hand, I think it is more likely that the ones who come here often do so with contempt in their hearts for all the patients who won't accept their superiority, who keep going back to doctors and complaining they don't feel well, who obviously spend all day eating and getting fat, who must be non-compliant because levo always works for those who are compliant etc etc etc. *Sigh*
i know as a fact that our g.p. does follow , when he can , the posts on here -- because he sometimes discusses an issue that has cropped up , when I see him ,-- he is not a member and does not contribute [ to my knowledge ] -- but , he has not only stated to myself that he has learnt an enormose amount from the posts [ and advise ] from here as a teaching doctor in a major teaching hospital [ he lectures doctors in training ] he has actually adjusted his own syllabus to encompass ALL forms of treatment for thyroid patients [ he stated to myself recently ' maybe some of it will get through to some eventually ' ....... not only has he helped to treat my lady and bring her condition to a semblance of order ,but, by doing so he has helped the whole family for the better . I have nothing but total respect for him
What a wonderful human being to be around. His life must be full of joys. It really is very simple. The happier he can make the people who come into contact with him, the happier his own life is.
Glad your lady is well A

I know our local Independent Pharmacist has looked on this site and thinks there are a lot of very knowledgeable people here. Hopefully he and Alan's Doctor will spread the word.
I most certainly have , and since this post he has developed a close mutual relationship with the endocrine dept at the hospital that he lectures in [ my lady is actually treated there ]
