Hi Everybody! Well, 10 days ago I went from 1 grain to 1.5 grains. This went well for me, but for the last few days I have been feeling very tired and sleeping very heavily. I am going to raise my dose again - to 2 grains daily now. Hopefully I feel less tired! I think I will split the dose too - any opinions on that? Hoping my other friends on this journey of change from Levo to Thiroyd are keeping well too! Regards, Michelle!

Raising Thiroyd again.
Michellebelfast, splitting dose can prevent feeling overdosed which sometimes happens when taken in one dose and helps avoid afternoon/evening slumps as the first T3 wears off. Try the 2nd dose 8-12 hours after the first dose.

I'm more conservative and would probably only increase 1/4 grain at this point but there have been some who end up on more than two grains so it could be all right. This from STTM:
GOING UP WITH DOSAGES WAY TOO FAST. This was observed a few years ago: a doctor put his patient on desiccated thyroid. One grain, then 2 grains, 3 grains, 4 grains, 5 grains, then 6 grains. But the problem was that he did this within 4-5 weeks! OUCH. He started to find himself majorly overdosed with symptoms to match (high heart rate, sweating). He had to stop for a few weeks… then resume again at one grain and do it the right way–approx. 1/2 grain raise every two weeks, slowing down in the 2-3 grain area (and for some, slowing down on even lower amounts).
BELIEVING THAT DESICCATED THYROID IS “HARD TO REGULATE”. Totally and completely false. Patients have found nothing hard about desiccated thyroid. You simply raise it high enough to rid yourself of symptoms, which in turn gives you a free T3 towards the top of the range and a suppressed TSH. Believing that desiccated thyroid is hard to regulate is akin to believing that tricycles are hard to ride. 😆
Thanks for that advice, Heloise! I am settling into my new dose and eagerly awaiting good results 😀I originally intended to raise by just 1/4 grain, but decided on 1/2 grain as I was exceptionally fatigued and I felt my face was getting more bloated. I guess there's a lot less Levo left in my system now after a month without taking it....
I can't imagine raising by 1 grain every week - ouch indeed! I would have dissolved into a rather large puddle of sweat by now - eew!😀
Will only raise by 1/4 grain (if necessary) from now on.....
Thanks again!
Getting there Michelle - I have upped my dose this week, and am feeling like someone has taken a great heavy cold coat off my shoulders. Brilliant! Two days ago I sat down for my customary mid morning nap, but something was wrong and it took me a while to work out what it was - I did not need it! The first time for years! Today I woke before the alarm and did not mind getting up. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!!!
The only downside is that my dreams are full technicolor nasty nightmares, but that is a small price to pay for feeling human.
If I go up again, and I have a feeling I will, I think I will split the dose, just because it will make it easier on the body to adjust.
I hope you continue to improve, good luck with your journey!
