Hashimoto's Disease
I cannot answer your question but this link is very informative about all autoimmune conditions and is an eye-opener.
Suin, it would be unusual to develop Hashimoto's if you have no thyroid gland but possible if, as does happen in Graves patients, the thyroid regenerates. Have you had positive thyroid peroxidase or thyroglobulin antibody results?
I've had no antibody testing at all, I was just read more about Hashimoto's Disease, and then wondered, could it be possible. Thanks so much, you are all brilliant at replying,

Hi, I had graves disease over 25 years ago. After being treated with carbimazole for over a year, I was given my first treatment of radio-active iodine. A year later my thyroid was still way over -active and I was given a second level dose of RAI. I was never given any helpful info and was told my gland may eventually go hypo. I was told this is easier to manage and my GP can treat that. I did feel ok- ish (not great for a few years). Tiredness and dizziness hit me five years ago and without any blood test I was given 50mcg thyroxine- I felt just like I had when I was hyper...sweats, weight loss etc. I went back to GP and they took the thyroxine off me and gave me nothing!!! I moved house and changed GP, I was given 25mcg thyroxine and this helped for a while. After suffering numerous illnesses, depression, anxiety, exhaustion totally fatigued, high cholesterol , stomach and gall bladder issues, the list is long, I decided to do some research on food allergies. I found this forum and I thank God that I did. With sound advice, I womaned up and insisted on proper blood test which shows I have antibodies and Hashimotos. Still this GP won't commit herself to agreeing about that. I have a fight on my hands but feel en-armoured to take it on. So I guess the answer is yes you can.
Hashimoto's can swing between hyper & hypo.
