Surgery May be Best Tx for Hashimoto's Disease.
I don't have hashimoto's disease myself. But I would be very reluctant to have my thyroid removed if I did. There must be lots of other ways of trying to damp down antibody activity rather than removing the thyroid.
Doctors have been removing wombs for decades and telling women they will feel better for it. Since thyroid problems mostly affect women it seems likely that removing thyroids is just more paternalistic medicine aimed at shutting up women.
I wondered about this years ago.... I think if i could have avoided all the fatigue and muscle pain, i would have gone for it. As it is, i seem to have evened out with no fatigue or pain, but its taken more than 25 years! I suspect i no longer have much of a thyroid.....

Surgeons touting for business? Oh dear!
Haha! Well I've had mine removed for cancer and not sure I'd recommend it
