Hi

Iam Interested to know if anyone has found a diet that has really transformed there life and really help improve their symptoms to get hashimoto's in remission ?

As I have had various sensitivity tests done and I have a lot of triggers so struggle to cut everything out because I am very skinny only 46kg but have been around this weight all my life but I don't want to loose anymore weight, mainly I am still finding sugar hard to quit as I keep getting severe cravings.

So would appreciate any advice and examples diet plan ideas foods/ meals your eating regularly or recipes and any supplements that are really good for detoxing and supporting the adrenals.

I have been looking at incorporating various diets like whole 30, gap, aip, keto (just to get me off the sugar and then reduce to aip) etc so would love to know what other people have tried and whether they have had success or not.

Thanks

It may help if you consume protein smoothies in addition to regular meals.

Re the Brazil nuts, not all Brazil nuts are created equal. You need to buy those that say they were grown in selenium-rich soils, or else they won't have much selenium in them at all. :)

Are you on thyroid hormone replacement? If so, what and how much? Losing weight can be just as much a hypo symptoms as gaining weight. If you are hypo and your stomach acid is low - as it often is with hypos - you will not be able to absorb enough nutrients to help you maintain a healthy weight. Have you had your vit D, vit B12, folate and ferritin tested? Sounds to me as if you need to add some nutrition, not remove whole food groups. :)

May be linked to gluten. I very much doubt all autoimmune diseases are. Gluten-free never did anything for me.

Well, if it helped you then it's worth giving it up. But, as I said, it made no difference to me, and I didn't feel any worse when I started eating it again. I would be very, very surprised if gluten was the only cause of Hashi's.

And do we know why Iceland and South Korea have high per capita rates for thyroid cancer?

All I know is that Japan has a very high rate of Hashi's but they don't ingest gluten, as far as I know. However, they do ingest a lot of iodine.

OK, that makes sense.

Excess iodine can also cause thyroid cancer.
