a nice big thumpin' Harley with the wind in my face on that road I think GG........

But I also agree with Marz about a gentle stroll with the dog too.....

You are brave! I wouldn't dare get on a motorbike! I did when I was much younger, but not now. I'll stick with the dog on the beach, I think. :)

GG, Lunch will make me feel good. Few minutes more and I'm allowed to eat (dentist).

Oh, poor you! I do so hate the dentist! And I've got to go soon, so that's probably going to Knock me out for months! If I suddenly disappear, you'll know why. But so far, I haven't had the courage to make the appointment. I'm such a coward! lol

in reply to greygoose

greygoose - I'm sure the anaesthetic wears off a lot sooner than that!! ;)

Seriously now, I need two teeth extracting and several fillings. Do any of you know whether a dentist's anaesthetic injection is safe when I take propranolol? I been putting this off for a very long time now.

greygoose profile image
greygoose in reply to

Yes, the anesthetic wears off, but the side-effects Don't. I, too, have to have several teeth out - I wish they'd just take the lot out and be done with it! And, I know from experience, that it leaves me feeling bad for a long time after. Just general bad, in myself.

I Don't know if the anaesthetic is safe with propranolol, but I believe you should ask for one without adrenaline if you take thyroid hormone replacement. I've never done this, because I didn't know before. Perhaps that's why it made me feel so bad. I Don't even know why they put adrenaline in an anaesthetic! And would one without be less effective... So many questions. Maybe I should do another post...

in reply to greygoose

I knew what you meant, it was my attempt at a joke. You should post it as a new post as I'd be interested to see what folks think.

I have read somewhere (or had a dream about it) that adrenaline based anaesthetic can cause blood pressure to rise to dangerous levels if a patient is taking propranolol. But I cannot find where I read that. I asked a friend who works for a drug company but she didn't know.

I didn't feel too clever for a while after my last tooth extraction and the abscess meant the dentist had to inject me every minute or two as the effects were wearing off! Ouch! Thought I was in Nazi Germany. After the 10th injection the tooth was out and the pain began.

That's right! Go on! Cheer me up!!! lol I Don't even want to think about it!

Neither do I ha ha!!!

Epic, inform your dentist you are taking propranolol and whether you are hyperthyroid. They use different anaesthetics for different conditions.

in reply to Clutter

Clutter - will mention it when I pluck up the courage to make an appointment. Thanks.

GG, this wasn't a painful visit. Had a crown fitted and have to let it 'set' before eating. Nice clean up too. Mouth fresh as a daisy :)

greygoose in reply to Clutter

I hate clean ups! My teeth are so sensitive, when they start poking around with that little metal spike, I nearly go through the roof! But I'm glad yours went OK; :)

Clutter profile image
Clutter in reply to greygoose

GG, I had no sensitivity at all today. There was no digging around with the little pick thing at the base of the teeth/gums. He was using an ultrasonic thingwee which squirted water, no discomfort and quite quick. Loud whiny noise but better than my whiny squeaking.

greygoose profile image
greygoose in reply to Clutter

Well, that sounds miraculous! Never met a dentist with one of those!

GG, fink it's a new toy. He told me to come back in 3 or 6 months, whichever I prefer, for another clean, and I will as it doesn't hurt. Dribbled water down me neck a bit, but who cares about that!

greygoose profile image

That's the least of one's worries!

GG, you can buy a teeth cleaning device called an Aquapic now. It's great! it sends pulses or a stream of water that you move around your teeth, cleaning them in-between and on the gum-line. It leaves your mouth feeling really fresh and clean.

Top tip for people with sensitive teeth - use tepid water! Better than flossing and you cannot damage your gums with the Aquapic, as you can do with flossing.

Thanks for the tip, maggi. :)

I know we can all fall into the trap of obsessing about our ailments, but I know from experience, I do what I can to help my condition, but I do not dwell on it. A holistic approach is to do what you can medically, get out, see friends and focus on what are the good aspects of your life. I am eating better, walking the dog more and after being told my a loved one that all I talked about was my disease, I stopped. By stopping to focus on it, it not only helped those around me but I felt better :))

greygoose profile image

Well, we all do what we can. I Don't obsess about it, although I do see it all around me, and people being blissfully unaware that they have it, but...

What I'm going to do for my soul today is buy a pair of red shoes. I love red shoes. And I haven't had a pair for ages! So, today is the day I buy them. This meme decided me! :D (Then I'm going to sign a couple of hundred pétitions...)

Nah, too late! They didn't have them in my size, and I couldn't find anything else I liked. :(

Love red! Red car lots of red surrounding me. I may need the shoes as well. But speaking of the dentist LOL I burn injections twice as fast as others. So I sit on the edge of the seat waiting to feel some pain and they keep giving me more shots. Yuck! I would like to be put asleep for the whole mess. Anyway may have to get me some shoes! xo All the best! Susita

I swear half of my issues are stress related due to my job. It's only fair that I be good to me, take time out and find a part time job, then start OU studies in January.

Best I've felt in 2 years!!!

Where you going? I did my soul a lot of good today, I went to a children's party! And I ate cake and gummy bears and M&Ms, and I made a cat out of bits of plastic that you iron, or something, no idea what it was all about, really. lol But it was very soothing! :D

Glad you enjoyed your party. The last family do I went to, three children turn up, two of which were like 'the arrival of Tasmanian Devils' ! Needless to say, when the youngest was bribed to be good by his grandma with a new lego set.....well I had to join in. I had great fun!
