Vitamin B-12. 418

Friskypaws. Folate 18.9 is good as it's in the >5.4 normal range. B12 418 is low in range, top of the range is optimal. Supplement methylcobalamin 1,000mcg sublingual lozenges, spray or patches and take a B Complex vitamin to keep the other B vits balanced.

Hello Friskypaw,

I am pleased you have had a dose increase. Remember it may take a while to kick in and even then symptoms can lag behind good biochemistry.

Your doctor should retest your thyroid hormone levels in 6 weeks and perhaps increase dose again.

Your folate is fine. Clutter had advised re B12. Why didn't you have Vit D and ferritin tested?

These are both vital in the synthesis of thyroid hormones so deficiencies could indirectly interfere with meds working.

Perhaps you could ask your doctor to test these when you have your next thyroid blood test?

I hope you start to feel a little better soon,

Flower
