I have been told to reduce t4 from 200 mcg to 175mcg. Can I stop t4 altogether and use 50mcg of T3 safely? Thanks

Caroline, yes you can. I was switched from 175mcg T4 to 60mcg T3 in preparation for RAI. Your levels must be over range for your dose to be reduced from 200mcg to 175mcg so you may feel overmedicated on 50mcg T3. It might be better to start on a lower dose for 7 days while the Levothyroxine washes out.

I had 25mcg this morning then 12.5mcg this afternoon. So I might stick to that for a week?

Carolanne, would be wise, you'll still have a lot of T4 in your system being converted.
