Hilary Clinton and armour thyroid

Anyone seen this? It seems that she uses armour rather than the synthetics. If I was American I would vote her in. :-).

Galathea, You can have what you like IF you can pay for it but it's hardly likely to endear her to American voters whose doctors won't prescribe NDT or whose health care insurers won't approve it.

Well, no, but the point is, if the synthetics worked well she wouldn't need to use NDT. Doesn't it show that when you can afford the best treatment, then NDT is the medication of choice and not the synthetics as the docs would have us believe?

Galathea, Absolutely but I'd be willing to bet HC went straight to NDT because she could, not because synthetics didn't work for her and I doubt she'll be campaigning for everyone to have access to NDT.

Yes, I would imagine that too...

I'm American and have not heard of any insurer refusing to cover Armour prescriptions and never had a problem myself. They covered mine.

Thanks for posting.Maybe if she made a stand in America about thyroid meds ,we might get a chance of change here.

Not really surprised. Some are more equal than others.

She will have the best treatment without a doubt. Therefore where does this leave the rest of us as here in the UK we can have levothyroxine, nothing else, so it's a case of take this or take nothing. I am really fed up with having no choice in my treatment. I can't even get my GP to test anything but TSH. Moan over.

I think it's great news. I now have a succinct answer next time a doctor tells me NDT is unreliable and a bad alternative " Well it's good enough for Hilary Clinton....."!

I wonder if she is even remotely aware of how hard it is for all us 'plebs' to get half decent treatment or even options???? It may just be the case that as she is in a privileged position she had this option straight away? Or have we not been given the full story? We are aware as we desperately search for help generally from the Internet..I would love to know how she was able to obtain it. I wish her well of course but it would be wonderful if she could in some way champion everyone else who would love the opportunity to at least be given the option to try NDT. I have recently started NDT..I am self funding.
