Hi Im on day 5 with adding t3 to my Levo so I've dropped from 125mg Levo to 75mg and added 20 mg of t3... I'm exhausted does anyone know how long it takes to kick in or how they benefitted from the both.
Thanks Nina x

What brand of T3 are you taking? Are you self-medicating or is your T3 prescribed by your doctor? People often comment that T3 provided by the NHS is very weak compared to other brands.
From personal experience, I was unable to tolerate T3 in small doses when I had very high (over the range) Reverse T3. I needed quite high doses in order to be able to walk and talk and stay awake. Once my Reverse T3 dropped my need for T3 dropped to much more modest levels. Perhaps you have high Reverse T3? (I had to test privately, I haven't heard of the NHS ever testing it.)
I've been prescribed by my endo but no didn't have my RT3 tested and I've only got a prescription for 6 months as the endo said she has never seen it work in people before so there isn't much point...
If your endo has never seen it work before then I suspect she hasn't been prescribing enough, or she has reduced people's levo dose too much, or both.
I'm doing well on T3 only now, and I'm not the only one on the forum who does.
Lol, she sounds a reaL gem. DonT suppose you asked her what she does when her patients remain ill but the t3 hasnT worked. The correct answer is that she then checks adrenal function and vits and minerals. But I bet she just doesnT do anything for those poor souls....
Hi - I have taken that route and after a bit of a shaky start I'm fine on 100 mcg T4 and 20 mcg T3. Mine was prescribed for me and monitored by my really nice endo (who didnt even raise his eyebrows when I got it stupidly wrong) I had been on 125 mcg T4 for a long time. Its possible that you need to increase your T4 (Levo) to 100 mcg as I did. T3 is pretty quick to take effect but is best introduced gradually.
Hi Jezebel,
Can I ask you what blood levels your Ft4 and FT3 are at on that dosage? I'm taking t4 and T3 but am wanting to add more t4. Thanks
My FT4 was 19 ( 10-24) FT3 4.8 (3.8-6.7)
Hi joesmum - I've been battling to get full test results from my gp and because I messed my dosage up my last test might not be too accurate. I'll try for them again though and pm you with results. I do remember that T3 was above range but my endo seemed ok with that.
Thanks for replying. I was really interested in where a outs your Ft4 is?
I'm on a combo, my FT3 is 6 and my ft4 is 9 . Still not feeling great.
Ok I thought about going back up to 100mg T4... I've just been taking it altogether and at the same time is that right ?? Also did you lose any weight i eat really well and exercise regularly.
Hi Nina, I am three weeks into adding T3 and have not noticed any improvement in energy. In fact don't seem to have as much. BP and temperature are good though.
Reading your first post here, you were originally on 150mcg of Levo? And clearly not feeling well on that. So cutting back to 75mcg, even with the introduction of 20mcg T3, probably wasn't going to be enough to make you feel better. Think it's a good idea to go back up to 100mcg of Levo if you've got enough of it spare to take.
Honestly, sometimes I think they want to set you up to fail with T3. Yours isn't the first post like this I've read this week.
Do you know if it makes any difference if I take it altogether or should I be taking it at different times. Yes I totally agree I left my appointment with the feeling I was set to fail.
You can take it altogether if you want to. Or split it into two doses - whatever works best for you.
If you're adding in t3 it stimulates cortisol production which can tire you out. Have you considered taking your first dose in your cortisol window as in the CT3M method that Paul Robinson talks about?
I've never heard of the CT3M method I will google it now thanks x
