I have just had a nodule removed with my left sided thyroid gland. I am 4 days post op.
I should have asked about my meds but forgot, so I am still taking my 50mg propylthiouracil twice a day as my dose was reduced by half for damage to my liver, and propranol 160mg once a day.
Can't get any medical advice until Monday.
But reading a few posts on here has me wondering do I stop my meds all together, to see if my half of thyroid will work on its own?
Wish I new all the answers to these questions, but I am new to thyroid disease, and feel overwhelmed with all the websites and books I am reading. That's why this site is so brilliant as most people on here have life experiences and are able to help in such a positive way.

I don't have any experience of your problem but could you call the hospital where you had your thyroid operation? Failing that what about the Emergency Room at the hospital where you were treated?
I think I'd be wondering whether or not the PTU would make me under active. The propranolol is to calm your racing heart from when you were hyper is it not?
Hopefully someone who knows about that sort of thing will come along and help you.
I have rung the hospital and they said for me to continue with my medication until Monday morning then I can have a word with my endo's secretary, so hopefully will get a decision then.
Oh that's a pain when you are worried about it. If you don't get a response from someone who knows more than I do within a reasonable amount of time it might be worth posting again on a new thread.
