Believe my results indicate hashimotos??

I've had a private blood test and they tested my thyroid antibodies. Something which my GP has never done.

My Levo dose was increased about 3 months ago to 100. Is this enough of an increase based on these results? And the antibodies results - are they bad or really bad??

Thanks in advance for any advice

Whether the increase is enough depends on how you feel rather than the blood test results. Your results look pretty good but it's how you feel that's important. You may need a further small increase but you may feel fine with these numbers.

Your antibodies do show that you have Hashimoto's. High antibodies can contribute to symptoms. Certain vitamins and minerals can help, apparently. I believe selenium and zinc are two that may help reduce antibody levels.

Hello Tiger79 ,

It is good that you had the private blood tests as it is important if you have thyroid antibodies.

Your high thyroid antibodies, both TPOAb and TGOAb, indicate Hashimotos and because medical treatment is the same, doctors can be dismissive of it. Hashimotos is prevalent in people with hypothyroidism as the autoimmune attacks eventually depleat the thyroid gland of hormone.

The intestines control the immune system so many Hashimoto sufferers experience gut issues from intolerances to GI tract infections and specific vitamin deficiencies.

It was once believed that the auto immune response was self sustaining and irreversible but it has now been shown that when triggers are removed, the autoimmune process can be slowed or even stopped. Some find a gluten free diet helps (myself included) to reduce the antibody count and inflammation in the body which will make you feel better.

Optimal levels of Vit B12, Vit D, Folate and Ferritin are even more vital for thyroid meds to work now. I have also recently started supplementing curcumin which has powerful anti inflammatory properties.

Many members medicated on Levothyroxine function better with a supressed TSH (accomplished by a med raise) but we are all different and only you know how you feel.

Hi Flower

I've just become aware of curcumin and thought I should give it a try. Would you mind sharing which supplement you take?
