Just wondering if my daughter's antibody results confirm Hashimotos or not?
She asked the specialist if she has Hashimotos and he told her no.
Thyroid peroxidase antibodies 508.5 (<34)
Thyroglobulin antibodies 376 (<115) Thank you

Yes, raised antibodies confirm Hashi's.
Doctors don't always recognise that term, they use autoimmune thyroiditis or autoimmune thyroid disease, but often dismiss antibodies as of no importance. Shame they don't all develop it themselves then they'd know how it affects people!!
That specialist isn't very special. Rather very unspecial, I might say! Yes, your daughter has Hashimoto's based on her elevated thyroid antibodies. It's a shame that he/she can't read the lab range and interpret that antibodies elevated over the top of lab range means positive for Hashimoto's. Why did they even bother running the test if they can't read the results? Time for a special specialist! That regular one isn't special enough.
Yes, she does, as shown by the over range (positive antibodies). But it's often called autoimmune thyroid disease in the UK. Probably a diabetes specialist, not a thyroid specialist.
I know how frustrated you must be my GP told me 'of course you have raised antibodies that's why you're on thyroid treatment' !! Silly me obviously after 5 years on levo I shouldn't have asked...........!
