Just had this come through the post about a week after an apppointment letter.

Is there really any point going through the stress of this for no outcome what so ever other than them probably reducing my Levo again,

By the way my last Endo apt was when i was pregnant, also had gestational diabetes - my son will be 6 in March.

Any advice would be great as i wasn't holding out much hope for the appt and thought i would go down the NDT route if this was the case.

I have started all suppliments over a week ago and do feel better for it being low in quite a few things although GP never advised this.

(results can be seen in my last post)

Thanks All x

I am speechless that medicine has sunk so low....I really do not know how best to advise you. I would certainly reply to this letter indicating you are aware that costs are part of the reason T3 is not prescribed and the adherence to the Guidelines set down by various bodies also play their part. Many Docs running scared. Also worth mentioning the clinical symptoms that should be acknowledged - so without seeing you how would they know ?

Others will come along and point you in the direction of the best information and links to information on combination therapies. How silly this person will look when eventually T4/T3 treatment becomes mainstream - so keep this letter and insist a copy is put on your Medical File.

Wishing you the very best in your quest to find the optimal treatment.

Completely agree, Marz. Might be worth sending a couple of research papers along with that reply, and as you say, asking for the whole lot to be kept on record.

We've seen so many people on here have their lives turned around by the addition or even substitution of liothyronine. It's heartbreaking that they're taking this stance - while still happily prescribing statins and advising everyone not to eat saturated fat...

Just realised MPH is Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton. I had my appendix removed there as an emergency over 50 years ago when I was around 18. The next morning I was told to be out of bed and get going as my appendix was fine. I was in agony. Some 10 years later after difficulty finding Docs to listen I ended up in hospital in Bristol for almost 6 months - with Ileo-Caecal TB. When they operated first of all they found two abscess scars behind the caecum - near where the appendix was ! They had obviously been overlooked as the appendix was OK. I often wonder how I survived that part of my life. My abdomen was full of TB tissue and a real mess - five more operations ensued during that time.

So please do go with your own feelings and insist on the very best care that you so deserve. My neglect turned me into a fighter :-) I was too young to battle at that time and work beckoned. ( My boss offered me a pay rise to return early ) Every cloud has a silver lining - I am now fit and strong !

Fight the good fight ! You have a good life ahead of you.....

Ju01749, If you were hoping for Liothyronine to be prescribed there's no point. If you think medical supervision would be helpful you could ask whether they will monitor you if you buy your own T3 even though they won't prescribe.

NEVER let your doctor reduce yur meds by blood tests alone. Your doctor is an advisor only, go by how you feel not numbers.
