Possible last Endo apointment - any advice please.

Hi 😊 My last post was about my Endo, (originally very laid back, prescribed me NDT but recently changed direction, became TSH obsessed and seems pressured not to prescribe). I had felt really well for over a year on NDT/plus small dose of levo until he wanted me to reduce because of TSH suppression (T4 and T3 were only midrange at this time). 😏

So - following on from that I'm due to see him next week and wonder what you would all do if it were you. (Swearing aside...)

Bearing in mind he will write to my GP. I am going to tell him how bad I have felt since reducing my meds and that my TSH needs to be suppressed for me to feel well. (I have also drafted a letter to hand him so its on my notes). He won't like any of this and I don't care. However I DO care what my next steps are. Should I tell him I will purchase it myself ? Bother to discuss T4/T3 although ideally I want to remain on NDT and if he's tsh obsessed that route won't work either. Or just part ways and make them think I'm on Levo and just self medicate myself with what makes me feel better.

I also see my GP in 3 weeks.

Many thanks if you have time to input any thoughts and advice. Just feeling adrift and alone after seeing the sunlight and new life NDT gave me last year.

thanks

Say you are aware that False Statements have been made against NDT and it has been used safely since 1892 in various forms. I dn't think he'll care as he probably doesn't want to lose his job.

It's impossible to get a copy of this book, again by Dr Lowe

Thank you very much Shaws. I have never seen the thyroid science article. very grateful.

He was very much behined NDT when I first saw him and the philosophy that just because a medicine is old fashioned does not mean it doesn't work well. However TSH all of a sudden seems to be dictating everything. Im now a piece of paper with a blood result. Not quite sure the best way to part way with my head held high yet. I suppose a letter will record my situation, what little good that will do

I think they've tightened up the regulations nowadays. It was Big Pharma that introduced levo first of all in 1949 in the UK (info from helvella ) with the promise that it was a perfect solution away from NDT.

The BTA and RcoP have made False Statements in the UK about NDT and doctors and Endos have, at the present time, to prescribe levothyroxine. I believe, in the USA, they also pay for their Conferences etc and I suppose those who speak will also have a payment. Of course, they would have to toe the line of prescribing levo only. Then, of course, are the other prescriptions for the remaining clinical symptoms, so big profits all round it would seem for those who don't prescribe NDT.

This is from Dr Lowe, now deceased and I think similar happened in the UK with several doctors Dr Skinner obviously comes to mind and other doctors lost their licences in diagnosing the way they were taught as students:-

Dr. Lowe had long decided (some ten years before) to strategically give up his licenses at a certain point in his career. He was well prepared for that point, having been advised and tutored about it by many of his medical colleagues who had been defrocked by their regulatory boards and courts for resisting the use of T4 replacement therapy and actually helping thyroid patients recover their health. The predetermined point to forfeit his licenses was clearly defined: it was when it became his evidence-based opinion that a corrupt chiropractic board and/or corrupt judicial officials were arranging to try to silence him from his constant reports of the corruption and incompetence of the endocrinology specialty in dealing with hypothyroidism and thyroid hormone resistance.

I think they're cutting down in the UK on the other FT4/FT3's except for TSH as members have been asking for more than this test when they still remain unwell.

Doesn't make any difference to what you say, but the first synthetic levothyroxine was, as I understand, made available in 1949 by Glaxo in the UK. (Glaxo had started in New Zealand - I do not know its precise ownership in 1949.)

Even when thyroxine became commercially available from Glaxo in 1949, tablets of desiccated thyroid extract remained the principle source of treatment for many years.

Synthroid didn't get to market until 1955.

thanks for reply reallyfedup123. Can I ask about pituatory/central hypothyroid? I have hashis, hypothyroid over 18 years but my last bloods showed low tsh, low t3 and low t4. I'm assuming due to symptoms returning and these results that I am just undermedicated. As Ive raised I already feel a bit better. However last time I was there he mentioned 'looking at my brain' which I thought was an unnecessary way of putting things! he was meaning pituitory but surely if I'm on meds it's not likely to be that ? Your thoughts would be really useful. many thanks - I really don't know what I'm up against with him and trying to prepare myself. xx
