have been feeling dreadful for a few weeks, VV tires, aching joints, tearful, can not concentrate, very sore breasts, skin patches etc...etc.. finally got the Dr to okay bloods. Got my TSH today its now 0.25. (0.30-3.30) I am on 125mg of levo daily. Dr said TSH ok and don't need to do anything.... so why do i feel so awful??

Chezp, your TSH indicates you are optimally medicated. Unfortunately it doesn't say whether FT4 and FT3 are good. If you can order a private FT4 and FT3 test from Blue Horizon or Genova that will tell us how well you are converting T4 to T3.

Low ferritin and vitamin D can cause musculoskeletal pain, fatigue and low mood similar to hypothyroid symptoms. It may be worth adding these to your blood tests if you can't persuade your GP to order them. City Assays in the link above will do vitD.

Thank you so much for your time. I've look at the private blood tests and am more than happy to do one but which would you recommend? I can not remember which T is good?

Chezp, I haven't used any of them. Blue Horizon's intermediate thyroid panel home test looks good value for £88.75.

I think you might feel an improvement if the doctor can allow you to trial 20mcg of T3 for a reduction of 50mcg of levo for about 3 months to see if it helps. I had widespread pain whilst on levo only and never, ever, felt well. I did improve when T3 was added to a reduced T4. I am now on T3 only.

I'm sorry you are feeling really poorly. It sucks doesn't it.

I hope you are able to find some solutions and start to feel a bit better.

Take care, Wired.
