Hi Donni I've always taken my medication as normal when I have my tests....never been told not to take them. But I usually get asked if I'm on warfrin or aspirin though...but they never question if on thyroid meds 😊

Donni and Trace, thyroid meds peak in the blood for up to 6 hours after taking a dose so it is advised to leave 24 hours between last thyroid dose and blood draw for thyroid tests. You can take the dose immediately after your blood draw.

Thank you Donni, hope everything goes well on your test,Being only been diagnosed a month and a half ago, and on Levo I could not remember if you stopped Levo one day before, the test as advised by another lovely lady on this site,

Just want to thank you for your question,x

It would be better to have a thyroid blood test first thing in the morning as well as avaoiding taking any thyroid medication for 24 hours before the test. Taking medication or having a test later in the day will skew the results.

Better to have a few hours having a little dip than having your dose decreased by getting a spike. If you can get your appointment early apart from it being more accurate your dose won't be that long after what has become your regular time so you shouldn't notice the difference.

Your results could well show quite a difference because of the time of your blood test. e.g. lower TSH
