Timely post here. I had mine removed 20 years ago and a delayed post op haemorrhage resulting in blood transfusion. I had an 'aha' moment when I was seeing private endo yesterday about my hypo symptoms - I realised that I felt as sick as I do now for about 6 months after that experience. Obviously, delayed post op haemorrhage us a rarity (less than 1%of surgeries) but I wonder now if the trauma kickstarted some thyroid issues. It hasn't stopped me having tonsillitis either, I still get infections of the tonsil beds....

I had mine out over 65 years ago, so I Don't remember much about it. But removing bits of the body Willy nilly really doesn't sound like a good idea to me. They're all there for a purpose.
