Lucky14, I think you are undermedicated which is why you are still tired. TSH of people on medication is usually comfortable just above or below 1.0 with FT4 in or towards the top 75% of range ie 19.0. Scroll down to Guidelines and Treatment Options to read Dr. A. Toft's comments in Pulse Magazine thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_... If you want a copy of the full article to show your GP when you ask for a dose increase email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk
For maximum absorption and uptake take your Levothyroxine with a full glass of water on an empty stomach one hour before or two hours after food and drink, two hours away from other medication and supplements and four hours away from vitamin D3, calcium, iron and oestrogen.
Ask your GP to test ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate as hypothyroid patients are often deficient/low and these deficiencies can cause musculoskeletal pain, fatigue and low mood similar to hypothyroid symptoms. Post your results with the lab ref ranges (the figures in brackets after your results) in a new question and members will advise whether supplementation is required.
Thanks for your reply. I was on 125mcg for about 11years then last year it was upped to 150 Mcg. I always take in the morning before food and 4 hours before other tablets. My ferritin was checked last October and was 17. And the magic word used was ..... It's in the normal range ....lol, but having been back to my GP in Febuary they re-checked it given how tired I was feeling and this time it was 16. Again I was told this was normal. However she agreed to treat with iron tablets. And I will email Louise and take a copy of guidelines when I next visit GP. Many thanks
