Starting dose on ndt

I've just started NDT 3 days ago & been fine until now.. I've taken 1/2 in the morning & 1/2 early afternoon.. I feel like I've had nothing at all.. I ran completely out of energy at 12.30 even after my second 1/2 ... Is it wise to add one more 1/2 at this early stage.. I feel like I did before diagnosed ???

I would not rush things. It's much better to go gradually. This is a link of how some people medicate:

Thanks shaws .. I've spoken to sttm & advised me to increase straight away.. Because my symptoms got severe so quickly .. Increased by another 1/2... Actually had to crawl upstairs when I got home, it felt like I'd gone straight bk to the very begining again.. I've been fine all weekend, just at 12.30 it felt like my battery had just run out without warning!!!

How much Levothyroxine were you taking, Rudeboy?

100.. My head was ok on that but physically I was sliding backwards..

Rudeboy, 1 grain is equivalent to 75-100mcg so hopefully the extra 1/2 grain will help.

Think it already has.. I've been back up doing washings.. Maybe take the full grain for work & 1/2 afterwards... thanks for the help & advice, much appreciated! :-)

This is just my theory, so take it with a pinch of salt :

You might have high reverse T3. If that is the case then the T3 you are taking as part of the NDT might not be getting to the T3 receptors in your cells. That implies that the only benefit you are getting from the NDT is from the T4 component of the NDT, which is much lower than you were taking before.

I'm sure I've read on STTM that NDT can be useful in lowering reverse T3, it isn't necessary to be on T3 only, but I don't really understand how that can work. You would need to do some research.

Not what you're looking for?
