This is really interesting, thank you :) Low iron suppresses TSH too? So I am guessing my irn levels wont be helping then ferritin: 34.3 (5-148).

Ferritin is stored iron in the liver. So when iron is low in the blood it goes to the store cupboard to pick up some more :-) Low Iron etc. affects the conversion of the T4 into the ACTIVE thyroid hormone T3....

Hope you are treating that LOW iron ... :-)

Could be something interesting in the above posts.....

Thanks Marz, I know I should take something. its just constipation is already bad...but then I take 2 laxatives a day so maybe I should just try the iron tablets. I will buy some :)

if you take VitC with the iron it will help both the absorption and the constipation. Research VitC - Linus Pauling - Nobel Prize Winner. Keep increasing the C until the constipation disappears !! Maybe you are UNDER- TREATED too for the thyroid....as constipation indicates a sluggish metabolism :-) You could start with VitC 1000 mcg x 2 daily....good luck :-)

I have Crohns so do not have that problem :-)

Thanks I will def give it a try. Yes I am under medicated. Just managed to get T3 in range by taking T3/T4 combo - t3 3.9(3.6-6.5) but endo won't give me anymore because so surpressed TSH. Sigh. :)

Maybe good iron/ferritin/folate levels will improve the FT3 as conversion rates should improve :-)
