So I get this leg pain on and off. More so when I'm stressed or tired. It aches most when I get into bed at night. Sometimes I am uncomfortable all night, and wake up with aches in the morning too. When I get out of bed, my legs feel weak and I am dragging myself about.
I take 150 Levothyroxine and have been feeling generally stable. I reduced my working week to 4 days to try to make this time of year easier to manage (I teach so its always a struggle). I feel a bit bleak this morning.
Dose anyone else get this leg issue? I know it can be connected to hypothyroid. I used to think it was related to my menstruatal cycle. Now i feel like it could be to do with circulation...
Anyway, not really sure why I'm writing about it here, just wanted to reach out to say im struggling this week I suppose.

Can you share your thyroid blood tests GrowingVeg, as you might need an increase in medication? Equally, key vitamins might not be optimal (folate, ferritin, vitamins D and B12)….. have you tested these recently.
Improved folate levels eased my leg pains (I take Thorne Basic B) plus adding a magnesium supplement.
Could you have some sort of arthritis? Or could there be some sort of nerve damage somewhere.
Your leg pains etc could be thyroid related or I almost hate to say it - they could be something completely different - as many of us using this site have found autoimmune conditions like to invite all their friends to the party
first thing is check your vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 levels
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
I suffer extremely painful legs
Struggle with stairs etc etc
Always thought it was thyroid related…..but recently diagnosed with lipodema (stage one)
30% of lipodema patients are hypothyroid……so definitely linked
Much to my regret Physio recommended dairy free diet
(I am already gluten free)
initially, like changing to gluten free ….I thought “no way” ….but bit the bullet about 6 weeks ago …..now almost totally dairy free…..but not changed to lactose free levothyroxine or T3 yet
Much to my surprise…..dairy is helping with swelling….but not much pain reduction….yet
Stairs do seem a bit easier
Waiting to see lipodema specialist.
Lipodema can be linked to/cause hyper mobile joints too
Hyper mobility also called Elhers Danlos …..also linked to autoimmune thyroid disease
I know this is a month old but I was searching for others on the board with leg pain and yours popped up!
I am literally laying here after two days of agony in my legs and what seems like a swollen lump on my ankle that comes out when I have leg pain, no idea if it’s muscle or a varicose vein or a lipoma or what.
Anyway so in answer to your question there are definitely us with leg problems! I am awaiting a brain MRI due to other symptoms to rule out MS, I’ve had nerve conduction tests which picked up nothing and the doctors don’t seem at all concerned about my leg pain, but I am going back next week about my protruding lump. All in all, it’s miserable feeling this way, I am 37 and I feel 85! Hobbling around like a hobbit. I’ve only been diagnosed for just over a year with Hashimotos but it seems like one thing after another. I have tried to get my vitamin levels optimal so I don’t think that’s the problem, it’s still a work in progress, possibly I’m still under medicated but again I don’t know. Sending you best wishes, wish I could be of more help but just to let you know you’re not alone even though I have no answers for you! X
oh gosh, the body is a strange old thing isn't it! I have had this leg pain on and off since I was ain my mid to late 30's. I feel like it started in my lover legs and now has spread right up to in my hips. I have thought about MS as I have a cousin with it. Who knows! From what everyone has said, I think I am going to need to speak to the GP.
I did get a medichecks after posting here, looks like I am slightly over, but need to retest for T3. Vitamins all ok.
