B12 deficiency: a silent epidemic with serious consequences

To say I'm becoming obsessed with B12 would be an understatement! I'm still reeling from the realisation that this could have been my problem for years, and none of the doctors I've seen knew anything about it.

..me too gg :-) Had the terminal ileum removed over 40 years ago and no one mentioned B12 absorption :-( Now happily on weekly injections and feeling fine ! Had six monthly check ups for Crohns for over 30 years - again no one mentioned it. Don't think I have slipped into Dementia - others may disagree :-) I think vitamin deficiencies are such a HUGE problem and of course mostly overlooked by the Medical Profession.

Totally over-looked in my case!

I don't think you've slipped into Dementia, Marz, you're just a little bit... strange. lol

Me too GG - I'm glad I'm not the only obsessive - I was beginning to think I had some sort of functional disorder - am definitely on a mission to spread the word. Thank you for this link.

Up until now, I 've been willing to give GPs the benefit of the doubt but, since GP derisively told my long suffering relative that her numb and tingling toes were nothing to do with her B12 deficiency, I'm like a Rottweiler let loose !

Idiot! Well, ignorant, anyway. I do hope she started treating her deficiency herself!

Long saga but managed to get injections from surgery and supplements herself as well.

We both found B12 and Vitamin D have made an amazing difference so hope it does for you too GG.

It has made some difference, yes, but along with other things, like D3, magnesium and zinc. Think I'm deficient in everything!

Not what you're looking for?
