Can a fasting blood test effect other blood results ?

When I had my bloods done it had to be a fasting one,just out of interest would that have any influence on my b12,Tsh,t4,vit d ,folate and ferritin results as well ? Or are they undesturbed by this test ?

Joeltite, I don't think a fasting blood test will have any impact on your other vitamin and mineral tests. TSH may be lower after eating according to this research ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl... so a fasting TSH may be handy if you are hoping for a dose increase or trying to get a diagnosis for hypothyroidism.

Thank you will take a look....

Bloods were fasting,Tsh was 2.57 t4 was 12.4,anyhow had my first b12 jab today so hopefully that will help after the loading dose

Joeltite, You are unlkely to get a hypothyroid diagnosis until your TSH is >4.52 or your FT4 <9.0. Ask for another TSH and FT4 test in 6 months in case levels have changed. I hope the B12 injections help with your other symptoms.

Thank you,yes I hope they improve,just waiting on thyroid antibodies test he done a few weeks ago,that may help in ruleing it out
