Has anybody on here after a TT had there thyroid grow back
Anybody : Has anybody on here after a TT had... - Thyroid UK
Anybody
Yes, I had a TT, and 11 years later had the same symptoms and was told by the endo that it was impossible! However once tested, found it had grown again so I then had RAI. Hopefully it can never grow again!
What signs did u have?
I mean did u feel like u had a lump in ur throat all the time & u have swallow all the time to try & move it?
I had my tonsils out when 9 & they grew back so wondering if I'm doing it again lol ie growing my thyroid back after having it "mostly" removed
No. Mostly I had racing heart, trembles (shakes, couldn't hold a cup) and lost about 3 stone in weight. Originally, I had severe thyrotoxicosis with a toxic level off the scale. Surgeon just said that thyroid was 'in a terrible state'. Also had a goitre, first and second times. Now of course I am hypothyroid and take 75 mcg thyroxine each day. Well overweight though, and can't shift it.
Wouldn't TT be a last resort, only for Cancer?
No
Mine was removed because it was multi nodular & growing around my esophagus
My concern is that it's once again trying to strangle me as same symptoms
Trouble swallowing liquid & sometime fluids
Always feeling like there is something sitting in there that I just can't shift
Am having ultrasound Tuesday so mystery will b solved one way or other
At least the doc didn't dismiss my concerns
Please let me know what happens. If you have Hashimotos or Graves, it could be attacking any remaining tissue, as they never remove all of it or they can damage the Parathyroids. Also, you could be having Esophageal Spasms. I think i may now get those. I had a constant awareness in my throat, pressure, but the ultrasound showed a tiny, intact thyroid, which was a real surprise. I have had a chronic sensitive throat too, since getting Hashi's..so i think it is related. I really want to know what they find! Sorry that you are going through this..you must be very upset, after all you have been through.
frankly.............no not upset. More curious I feel. I think since taking control of my own health Im not so anxious as I can always go for second or third opinion if I want.
I think that having a GP who doesn't dismiss ur concerns helps too.
will keep u posted as it will b very interesting to c if it is rising from the dead so to speak.
