Is anyone on Levothyroxine 25 mcg and feeling reasonable?
Doctors always say it isn’t enough to get into cells..but does it work for anyone? Please let me know.

Jollypolly My endo decided that my levo dose should be 75mcg or 100mcg levo. I was on this for many years and just scraped by. Sometimes the anxiety was awful and anything outwith my daily routine floored me.I decided that the levo was at fault and was causing my symptoms. I had been hyper and had RAI and the symptoms I was experiencing were the same as I had had when hyper. I did not know then that you can have the same symptoms hyper and hypo (those lists you see on websites are so clearly defined between hyper and hypo symptoms - I lose wait hypo too!!!).
So I reduced my dose to 25mcg per day. Lasted 3 months on it and felt great. Then the you know what hit the fan. I was very ill - looked awful. TSH 32 and ft4 and ft3 0% through range. Turns out I was undermedicated , poor convertor and what I needed was a little bit of lio added to the 100mcg levo. I am now on 100mcg levo and 7.5 lio and recovering.
So on that experience I would say that if your body needs more levo or a combo of levo and lio then 25mcg levo daily won't cut the mustard.
If you want to try 25mcg long term please take care - it turned out badly for me.
Ah yes….I think I’ve been round and round all these gardens many times …it’s unbelievably hard is it not..it is very strange that a. Number of very bad symptoms wen some time ago..and that is only since I had those few years with some form of t3..however little.
However, can’t seem to tolerate anything…the awful anxiety PLUS FASTER HEART WITH PALPS MAKES IT ALL IMPOSSSIBLE…
What are you meant to do …carry on regardless…I feel so unwell with..that scenario..
I’ve been on nothing again for two weeks to restore heart beat..
And started today on 25 Levo again..yes….I know it probably isn’t enough after the honeymoon period…
I tried t3 again recently..just 2.5..but it’s no good..
Oh dear…
Look into cortisol issues. Sometimes you can have an inability to deal with thyroid hormones if your cortisol is also out. Paul Robinson has lots of blog posts on this on his website.
Same is also true for cofactors eg ferritin, Vit D, folate and B12. If they’re not optimal, the body may not be able to deal with the thyroid hormone.
Yes I am and seem fine. I had trouble with thyroxine with terrible palpitations and dizzy feelings when I was borderline a few years back but when things got more symptomatic . I started every other day and now everyday.I am definitely feeling much better after a year .
It takes awhile to become adjusted to Levo., I also had heart palps every time my dose was increased, but they stopped as I became used to it. Adrenal glandulars can give heart palps, I know they did for me. I'm on a low dose too and within range as the say, but not sure I wouldn't feel better with a slight increase. My Dr. is wary though because of the heart palps. i had in the past. Like another post said, going hyper. can also make you feel all the hypo. symptoms.
Well, I did notice heart palps off and on though not continually, and told myself that it would pass as I got used to it, I'd also read that online somewhere. But if you are having it to the extreme and you feel so anxious then maybe you should cut back a little and resume more slowly, which I had to do at one point. I remember telling the Dr., I give new meaning to the slogan "go low and slow" when it comes to thyroid replacement. If it were me, I would try going off the adrenal complex first and see if that doesn't help with the heart palps. but follow your inner feeling on this as everything.
Many thanks .. for the interest , I DID go off adrenal for three or four months .. just to see .. it’s been worse .. so stopped Levo and after two weeks with adrenal again have just restarted now that my heart rate normal again I’ve said it before to myself and I say it again
I must not stop adrenal !!
