Read about choking being a sensation.disagree a sensation is a feeling like feeling sore ,pain or full etc.choking is a reaction.

However, I know that when I made that comment, it was purely a sensation as it only felt like I was choking, I wasn't actually choking! Clemmie

Anbuma, there is a thing called Globus Sensation where it feels as though there is something stuck in your throat and it can cause a choking sensation. I still experience it occasionally although I had a thyroidectomy to remove a large nodule which was actually choking me by compressing my windpipe.

Hi C!utter

I have booked an appointment on Thursday with Dr D which when I checked online yesterday wasn't available so its either a cancellation or he's released more appts.mine wasn't a feeling of something stuck in throat but I choked on cereal and spluttered rice krispies everywhere. Going to ask for a scan of neck as still tight and swollen.

I wonder if I have something like that.i don't have the feeling of something stuck but my neck is tight and swollen and I have the cough at night which is more likely related to hiatus hernia.all I got from my own gp was "I cant feel anything" well of course he wont feel my soreness and tightness -story of my life.ive never had a neck scan.

Anbuma, I didn't experience pain or tighteness, it just felt as though I had a large piece of food stuck in my throat. Sipping water often relieved it.

Saw gp today(Dr D)and said had choking fit on Sunday and couldn't get breath for what seemed like an eternity .he asked when and what happened. So told him I choked on cereal.asked if it happened before so said yes several times but not as bad that I couldnt get my breath.said I had an endoscopy 4 months ago and that would have shown if something there.he said he would arrange for me to see speech and language (?)dept .when got home thought I never said I felt headachy.and thinking endoscopy wouldn't pick up on something pressing on my oesophagus??and as he said it was 4 months ago so anything could happen in that time.oh he said all so it was to do with muscles.
