Well, are you adequately medicated? has your doctor actually measured free t4 and free t3? If not, maybe tme to get some tests done privately so you can see where you are with things. A full thyroid profile fom Genova is just over a hundred pounds. ( from memory).... Though other labs do the profiles too... Blue horizon for one.....

If it turns out that you do need t3... It is possible to buy it for yourself... Or get it prescribed....

Guessing wildly what might be the problem is not an approach to take... You need to organise proper testing. Leave the guessing bit to the docs......

I really feel so sorry for people who have had to have a TT and are not properly medicated. At least with some of us we have some thyroid hormones left. I think, personal opinion, that you should be given Natural Dessicated Thyroid hormones which contained all of the hormones our own thyroid gland would have produced, i.e T4, T3, T2, T1 and calcitonin. Mother nature must have had some reason for them.

I am hypo and found I couldn't feel well at all on levothyroxine alone but when some T3 was added it made a big difference.

It's o.k. for doctors to say you are 'adequately compensated'. Is he only looking at the blood tests as he is certainly not listening to you, his patient, whom he is supposed to get well? They don't know clinical symptoms and there is no reason he cannot at least add some T3 to a reduced T4. Ask for a referral to an Endocrinologist and email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org to see if there is one on her list who may be near you. It might even be worth travelling.

hi all have had my levo reduced 8 weeks ago from alternate days 150/125 to every day 125 I see my endo every 6 months he tells me I am adequetly compensated will only test tsh and takes no notice of my other symtoms weight gain he tells me to eat less exercise more, feeling cold, add another layer of clothing, feeling tired in afternoon, take a nap, i went to see my gp hoping he might be different but same story, he did test my t4 which is within range, and has offered my anti depressents, i feel in a very dark place at the moment with some horrible thoughts, all i want is to feel well and all these symtoms are making me so sad. If there is medication out there please give it to us and make us well surley thats what the medical profesion are all about
