Any private GP/doctor who will consider treating hypothyroidism symptoms despite normal blood test results in Surrey or around?

Hi all,

I know my question is very specific. I'm looking for a doctor who will consider thyroid medication despite apparent normal blood test results?

I have just left another post asking for help about obtaining Armour without prescription but my preference would be to get the medication from a doctor if I can.

I am aware that it is difficult to be prescribed thyroid medication with normal test results but I also know that it is possible to have too little thyroid hormones if these aren't taken in or utilised by the cells properly. If this was the case, it would be impossible to prove it and I feel this is my problem.

It is easier in the States to find a doctor who will consider and treat hypothyroidism symptoms and I may have to go down that route if that's the only option. Has anyone been in touch with someone based in the States?

Please send me a private message if you have anything to share.

Many thanks.

Recommendations via private messages please in line with posting guideline #24, thank you, Clutter.

Welcome to the forum, Mandy4407.

Email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk for a list of recommended GPs and endos in your area. Please don't take this to mean they will prescribe thyroid meds if your results are 'normal' though.

'Normal' is a very broad range and isn't the same as 'optimal' which we aspire to. If you post your recent thyroid blood results with the lab ref ranges (the figures in brackets after your results) members will advise/comment.

Ask your GP to test ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate as hypothyroid patients are often deficient/low and these deficiencies can cause musculoskeletal pain, fatigue and low mood similar to hypothyroid symptoms. Post your results with the lab ref ranges (the figures in brackets after your results) in a new question and members will advise whether supplementation is required.

Hi Clutter,

Thanks for your reply. I have been in touch with a few people via private message so I no longer need any doctor recommendation.

Thanks again.
