Hi I took my first b12 tab yesterday, my mood lifted for a few hours and my mind was clearer than I became groggy. Had a really deep nights sleep but struggling to wake up. Is this normal will this change? I have to work today and debating if to continue ?
It's abit scary isn't it, I guess it is at work fixing everything?? Hope you feel better soon
What dose are you taking?
This can happen. If this is the only side effect you are experiencing, don't stop, give it a couple of weeks, at least, and see how it goes.
The alternative, otherwise, would be to either reduce the dose and gradually build it up or change brand but stick with methylcobalamin.

Hi Melanie
I'm taking methyl by jarrow 1000mg one per day, have u any advice on ferritin or folate supplements? Brand amount etc? I did do another post with my blood results requesting advice etc but I only got one reply

Now that you have mentioned Jarrow's, it did exactly the same thing to me and after 3 months my b12 levels have gone down, too. Although, reviews suggest its effectiveness, it didn't work for me.
I switched to Pure Encapsulations 1000 mcg. Due to your B12 levels, and in order to balance all B vitamins, you can safely add a B-Complex Plus (it has metafolin, folate), optimal required b1 levels of 100mg which will also give you energy, and an additional 400 mcg as methylcobalamin).
For iron supplements, again with your blood levels, you can take either:
1/ ferrous fumarate 210 mg x2 day with Vitamin C.
2/iron bisglycinate - Solgar 25 mg x 1 day or Pure Encapsulations iron-C 15 mg x 2day. It is best to boost iron steadily and gradually. Although, they come in lower doses compared to fumarate, sulphate, gluconate; you'd find bisglycinate are more bioavailable i.e. high absorption rate, and gentler on the guts.
It is also important to point out that wheat and grains reduce iron, zinc, and magnesium absorption by nearly 50%.
