Can anybody help

I have been given Antibiotics for an infected mouth. I am not sure if these should be taken a few hours apart from my morning dose of NDT ?? does it make any difference . Just not sure about how to take these with the combination of supplements either. Could anybody help me with this dilema. Thankyou so much.

i had same thing and half way through Amoxiciilin for terrible throat infection was advised on here the other day to keep this four hrs away from thyroid meds. seems to b general rule for supplements as well.

Hi cat69, thankyou so much, so relieved to know this. Also happy for your advice re: supplements. I have Cealiac disease and a lot of other problems so need to take an awful lot of supplements as my diet is so inadequate.

Recovered, general rule of thumb is to take thyroid meds 2 hours away from medicines and supplements and 4 hours away from calcium, iron, oestrogen and blood thinning meds.

Some antibiotics can increase and decrease the absorption of thyroid meds. There may be more information on the Patient Information Leaflet supplied with your antibiotic.

That is so bad, i never had any idea on all of this. The Antibiotics dont have any information with them, but thankyou anyway i will phone the Pharmacy Monday morning. Maybe here in Australia they just dont give that information.

Recovered, you might find your antibiotic in this link healthunlocked.com/thyroidu... or you could Google the name of your antibiotic + Levothyroxine and see whether there are contraindications.

Do I have this right? So you can take your antibiotics with your supplements, as long as it is 4 hours either before or after you take your thyroid meds?

Asmile4u, yes that's right, 4 hours gap if you can, but it may still affect the absorption of thyroid meds increasing or decreasing the effect of your thyroid meds.
