Welcome to the forum, Annt217. Gluten-free diet can be very helpful especially if the thyroid disease is caused by autoimmune thyroid antibodies like Hashimoto's and Graves.

I haven't totally cut out gluten, but I have switched from standard bread to gluten free bread - I feel so much better! I can certainly tell the difference if I run out, and have 'standard' bread. I feel like a balloon!!! ;-)

It really really really helps. Look for Practical Paleo book by Diane Sanfilippo or Vegetarian Cooking without by Babara Cousins (she also does meat version) easy, lovely books that will transform your long-term health x

Gluten free isn't necessarily sugar-free but it's great for your thyroid to eliminate both.

it's not but is better for general health and insulin levels as well as thyroid - a lot of ready-made gluten free products (cakes, biscuits) are very high in sugar, so best to make your own or only use them as a very occasional treat.

It can help some, my cousin lost 2 1/2 stone when she went gluten free and she is still feeling better! Try it for a month or two and see how you get on.

yes def does, its not supposed to be good iv read loads of books regarding diet and health problems it seems to be a culprit in making things worse. if you have a problem with your thyroid leaving gluten out is only a positive move to make it takes a bit to get used to but it makes you realize that we should eat more naturally its how we are designed example meat veg fruit less sugar less processed food loads of good posts on here hope this helps
