Hi bennion, how do you feel? Your fT3 is probably rather high. Maybe you don't need the T3? What were you results like on Armour only?

Stated armour 14th March 1 grain and increased to 2 grains 2 weeks later this didn't agree so I stopped and dropped back down to 1 grain in April and then increased again in May to 1& half grain alternate days. The blood test taken 3rd June I had been alternating for 3 weeks .

Results were tsh 0.25

T4 9.3

T3 4.2

bennion, what sort of pain are you having and why do you think it is related to thyroid hormone levels? (I'm asking because I have a damn arthritic situation in my mid back with a herniated disc and that thing just needs a bullet. Nothing else will stop it. But saying that, it's the only thing that really hurts most of the time. I know that stiffness and pain generalized in joints and muscles is low Thyroid.)

bennion, I had that shoulder neck thing after a car accident. 2 herniated discs in the neck. Low thyroid meant I didn't recover from it for years and years. So yes, weak muscles due to low thyroid will cause problems.

I do know that posture has a huge influence over pain in this region. When the head is held correctly, the neck muscles don't have to work. But for every inch a person's ears are ahead of top of the shoulders means the neck muscles are 'holding' 10 pounds. Some people with really poor posture (rounded upper back) have their ears inches ahead of the top of the shoulder so their neck muscles are 'carrying' 40 pounds or more. These people are always having upper back and neck and shoulder pain.

Try carrying a bag of groceries in your hand against the side of your body. Then hold it out a few inches from your side and see how long you can hold it without the muscles hurting. Then hold it a foot away from your body. Same idea.

What really helped my neck pain and stiffness was sleeping on a water filled pillow. In North America they have what is called the 'Medi Flow' pillow. It was a godsend. My neck muscles could relax while I slept. The plow position in Yoga helped as well.

Thank you I will take a look at water filled pillow. I was in a mess for quite sometime bed and housebound so muscles did become very weak. I was taking baclofen and nortriptilyn for a few years.

Thank you for your help x

I was diagnosed 7 years ago with ME/CFS it had a sudden onset and pain /exhaustion were the main symptoms amongst others.I had been diagnosed hypo at age 15 years and always been on levothyroxine up un till then. It was decided in the end that maybe I was still hypothyroid and possible conversion problem. Hopefully once sorted the symptoms would subside. To be honest I still get pain some days worse than others. You may be right it could turn out to be unrelated to thyroid
