Lily, changes in the appearance or shape of moles should be checked by your GP. If your mole is red and inflamed as it appears in your picture you should have your GP check it.
It is a good idea to photograph moles with a coin or similar in the shot so you can see the size, and then you can also compare after a few months to see if it has grown x
Lily, definitely get it checked out by your GP. I understand you may find visits to the GP difficult, but you can't ignore or self diagnose this kind of thing. Visit the GP and get it sorted. Best wishes. Holly
I would get it checked out if it were me. My daughter had a mole removed last year, it was benign but it was considered a precaution to remove it. I'm sure it won't be as bad as you are thinking but totally understand the worry you are feeling.
Yes Lily get it checked because A) if you don't, the anxiety will make you ill anyway
B) If it is a serious one, you may well have caught it early and it would be completely curable . Two members of my family got melanoma - one caught it in time and never had a problem since (20 yrs. ago) and the other unfortunately ignored it and didn't fare so well. If I have anything I don't like the look of it's my rule to just get it checked automatically because then I don't waste time fretting about it.

Lily, you may as well have it checked, there really isn't much to it even if removed. In the U.S. at least they are naming moles as melanoma even though not malignant. I don't understand this but don't worry about that. I used to be afraid that doing anything like a biopsy was dangerous but that is wrong. Go do it. Mine was very deep and very black but these days, that is not always the way they look. I've been fine for 20 years.
