Hi Sheenah,
B12 is ideal towards the top of range. Paul should supplement methylcobalamin via health shops or thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/go_sho...
If he has symptoms 5,000mcg for a month to build up store otherwise 1-2,000mcg daily.
Many Thanks - he has just swallowed 5000's worth and says Thankyou for your advice. Once again the Lab result pronounced the dreaded "within the normal range" without the caviat "but in the low end". His most obvious symptoms are memory loss and dizzy spells. We will watch this space - Thanks again xx
Sheenah, I've never seen a lab result suggesting the result is low or high when in range. Usually an abnormal flag is added when results are outside range. I was annoyed recently to see a note against a member's below range TSH "suggest normalization in uncomplicated primary hypothyroidism". When did labs start directing GP treatment?
The trouble is GPs don't seem to see it either - that is, whether it is low or high within the range - if you don't know what you are looking at - and most people don't - you have to rely on their competence and - a new abbrevition - GSUA - "God Save Us All"! XX
