All proteins are made up of amino acids - joined together in long chains. So a significant part of our diet already is amino acids.

In our guts, the protein gets broken down into amino acids which can then be absorbed. Once inside our bodies, they can be used to make the proteins we need.

Has anyone given you any specific information about which amino acids might help?

You can read up a bit here:

I've taken all sorts. An article the other day said they were safe and suggested taking them at bed time. Perhaps they meant away from food but I'll see if I can locate the article.

Do you have a copy of your latest thyroid gland blood test results, with the ranges? I just wonder if you may be undermedicated due to the fact that carpal tunnel is also a clinical symptom of hypothyroidism.

My last test was March and my TSH was 1.19 I think the range is 0.2-4.2

They didn't do t4 this time, don't know why?

If your TSH is 'within range' sometimes the lab doesn't do T4. Dr Toft states the following in his article in Pulse Online:-

"The appropriate dose of levothyroxine is that which restores euthyroidism and serum TSH to the lower part of the reference range – 0.2-0.5mU/l.

In this case, free thyroxine is likely to be in the upper part of its reference range or even slightly elevated – 18-22pmol/l. Most patients will feel well in that circumstance. "

He goes on to say some need a suppressed TSH or the addition of T3 to a reduced T4. If you still have clinical symptoms, I think the GP could increase your dose to see if it alleviates your tendonitis.

You will almost certainly get more, and more helpful, answers if you do a new post/question.
