I'm raising funds for Thyroid UK by running this years Hadrian's Wall Half Marathon on 29th June.

This time last year I was sitting in a meeting at work physically shaking, thinking I must be stressed, as the palpitations came and went again. Eventually, after losing almost two stone in weight, I went to the GP to find I had hyperthyroidism. One year on, and after radio iodine treatment, I am now at the opposite side of the see-saw with hypothyroidism.

I have run in various events in the last 10 years or so and all for the big charities. I promised myself that when I get better I would do one day do something for Thyroid UK.. I have found this forum so valuable for personal support and a chance for me to offer supporting to others. Please consider sponsoring me and raise funds for Thyroid UK Thank you x

Well done, it's amazing when you realise you have recovered from being hyper. You go from feeling SO ill to getting your life back. Interesting to hear you have had RAI and are still feeling well enough to run a half marathon. Best of luck with it and thanks for running for TUK :-)

I got a place first then contacted Thyroid Uk and offered to fund raise. I thought it was a good idea at the time as Hadrian's wall is symbolic of the ups and downs madness of having a thyroid condition

Hi ya Louise

Its been a difficult journey and I will be happy to survive 29th June lol I had unstable T4 and T3 for a while then got back injury. 2 weeks to go......I did managed a 2 hour training run today but this was on the flats of Norfolk, I think it will be a bit undulating up north!! I will do it thou!

Shall try and promote fund raising more this week as confidence is now growing. I'll keep in touch!! Be happy B W Helen x

Hello everyone, A week on and the sore legs have recovered. The run was simply the hardest I have ever done! I was told it was undulating- they lied lol! Coming from the flats of Norfolk to Hadrian Wall was a shock to the system, I mean how could I train for it....up and down the stairs?? But who said managing a thyroid condition easy! I have raised around £170 on mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers... and around the same on paper. I was hoping for £500 but it was difficult to get more sponsorship as another good friend was also raising money for another good charity at the same time. Thank you to everyone who support me and I will now have to think of another challenge...........ideas?

.Keep up the good work TUK xx
