Hello everyone, can anyone help? the last couple of months my stomach has been extremely sore and I am having lots of servre stomach aches,, it keeps me awake all night. I went to the doc and was told to wait until I see the endo.... the pain is getting worse. I have had stomach problems for years but never like this.

Thank you

You have to go to the A&E to get checked out. No good waiting till you see the Endo.

If they say you are o.k. it could be down to low acid which many of us get if we are hypothyroid. Many of us now take Betaine or Betaine/Pepsin tablets at meals.

Hello Shaws,

I did do the bicarbonate of soda test & that showed I had Low Stomach acid, did use cyder vinegar for a while but didn't notice any improvements, I have ordered some Betaine with pepsin and peppermint oil.

Years ago I was told I had leaky gut but never got any treatment. After what I have learn't more recently - I wonder if that is why I have such trouble taking the Thyroid meds. Their was a fantastic discussion on the Thyroid Summit about that - this has given me a lot of hope. Thank you Shaws It never occurred to me that it was just the low acid, I was thinking it could have been more serious. What a relief

Best wishes

Medicate to the instructions on your bottle. I heard the leaky gut video too and it is amazing what you learn. I keep some Betaine in my handbag just in case I am out and want to take it each time I eat a protein meal. I have used some that says I can take several at a meal but the ones at present say no more than 3 per day.

I hope you find a benefit but it may take time for our stomach to heal.

Thank you Shaws, Do you still take your vitamins now you are well? I was hoping that once the Thyroid was better I wouldn't have to take a lorry load of vitamins a day that I do at the minute. After watching that fantastic Video I also got some L-glutimine and some strong probotic's (for the candida) and some Elm bark - now for the hardest part of all...... the 30 day exclusion diet.

I hope it doesn't prove too difficult. Keep in mind how well you may feel after 30 days. I still take vitamins daily too. Although I do feel well, I am reluctant to give up vits as I think (now) everything is so connected and I now have had 3 autoimmune and want to try to prevent more if possible.

I think it will be a nightmare - as I will have to cook everything from stratch and I am no cook but if its what I have to do, then I have to do it, as you say think how much better i will be at the end of the 30 days, It is going to be hard with Soya as I am a vegetarian but hopefully that won't be the issue. I am sorry you have been so poorly, so glad to hear your well though. I will proberly be the same and continue to takes vits, just a smaller amount but I agree they are so important, even moreso now with the food not having the vits it used to contain.

Thank you for your help & advice

Best wishes

Do you have a local GP walk-in centre that you could go to tomorrow ? I've been about four times over the years when I've felt really poorly and couldn't get an appt with my GP practice and have always had great treatment. It's as if they really pay attention because they don't know you and there's no preconceptions about your symptoms. Maybe better than waiting to see an Endo. I bet your GP wouldn't tell a family member to wait, if they were in pain ;-)

That's a great Idea, We don't have a walk in centre sadly, but I would happily drive to the nearest one. My only concern is docs are not good with tummy problems and I don't want to go to hosp as they are no better either. I am glad they have helped.

Have you had your gallbladder checked for stones?

Hello Trudes,

No, nothing like that has been checked, do you think that could be a problem?

Well i had crippling pains in my stomach which when you think about it covers quite a large area. The pain was intermident and kept me awake. It was worse after eating certain foods and got progressively worse over time. It sometimes radiated to my back and up my shoulder. Eventually they found my gall bladder was full of stones. If any of this rings true it is worth ruling it out but not to worry if it doesnt sound similar to what you are experiencing. Hope you get some answers and respite very soon.
