FERRITIN LEVELS CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF RAISED LE... - Thyroid UK
FERRITIN LEVELS CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF RAISED LEVELS ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE THYROID. MINE KEEP GOING UP. AT THE MOMENT THEY ARE ABOUT 160.
Hi the reference range is 5-148. The last two blood tests keeps rising. Don't know why.
Bobbies, it's common for hypothyroid patients to have low ferritin. High ferritin can be a symptom of inflammation. You should ask your GP find out why.
not sure about a high iron/thyroid connection - but here's an NHS link about iron overload (& arthritis?) in case it helps..

however frozen shoulder can be T related (I had one after another, 2nd disappeared after my PT op)

Hi my right shoulder has been painful 2 years can't wash my hair or lift arm up over my head ..what does this mean? Dr dismissed it with painkillers but pains still there ..hard driving now so painful
Hi iron level is very relevant here. You need an Iron test, including transference %, absorption. My ferritin Ok but iron on the floor inspite of meds.

Hi thanks everyone for helping. Iron level was 17 (6.6-30.4)
Total iron 49.0
Transferrin saturation 34.7%
This doesn't mean anything to me.
Just get told ferritin high but DRS don't say why.
Hi The 2 go together.Transference, absorption is too low, should be nearer 100%. My ferritin is ok but the only other treatment, I take max ferrous fumerate, is an iron IV in hospital. I need that but not safe for me. So therefore taking the ferritin to help the iron, makes the ferritin higher than needed in me.I would ask for a Faecal Elastase test, simple home stool test. Shows especially absorption by pancreatic enzymes, treatment replacement enzymes Creon, not drugs.
My iron etc like that s very ill, coincidence in my place about thyroid. Also make sure your B12 is high in range, autoimmune, hormonal.
