So why were the meds dropped? Were you feeling particularly hyper? Have you got free t3 pver range too?

My tsh is always 0.02 and if it rose to three times that, ie 0.06. I would start to feel worse... The time my meds were massively reduced and my tsh rose to 1. I lumped on a stone and felt so bad even the endo conceded I needed more meds.

Your doctor hasn't reduced meds solely on the tsh has he?

Hi Galathea, long story ,have hasimotosfor 11 yrs ,went hyper 9 months ago TSH 0.01 then felt I was dying, was on 150 mcg then.

Been up and down every 6 weeks and doses changed every 6 weeks as TSH all over the place and me feeling terrible every day all day.Feeling flushed, shaky, anxious ,trembling, feeling like lead, when hyper. Then feeling like glue ,hair falling out when feeling hypo.I have felt both hyper and hypo in past and could always resolve it and never felt so bad as I do now and no improvemnt. TSH 0.06 T4 19.2 T3 5.2, now, feeling shaky face red hot and flushed ,spots .Reduced from 112.5 mcg to 100 mcg ,now feel different but worse, its a struggle every day.I am frightend I will never get better.GP supportive have run all test ,adrenals ,lupus ,lymes all routine bloods ECG , ,chest x ray.All normal thank goodness.

Endo says I need to get stable and stay on same dose for at least 6 months ,but cannot find a dose were I feel well again.Thankyou for your help.

Ah, so after 11 years on levothyroxine, have your adrenals got tired of propping you up? Rather sounds like it.

I went for about 12 years on levo then fell apart when I lost weight. It took the next few years to sort out meds (. I needed t3). And adrenals... ( I took hc for 2 years)

Were your hyper symptoms confirmed with over the range free t3.

Did you have your blood tests early in the morning as this is the best time and don't take your meds on day of blood test. Can you remember what time yours was taken?

“First of all, TSH is not a blood pressure. Blood pressure is a surrogate endpoint for clinical effectiveness and blood pressure has been correlated with mortality and morbidity. TSH has not been correlated in any prospective study that I’m aware of with clinical symptomatology of thyroid disease. (Toft A. Which thyroxine? Thyroid 2005; 15:124-6)

TSH is a poor measure of severity of tissue hypothyroidism.

BMJ 2003 326:295-296

Initiation of replacement therapy should be guided by clinical presentation and circulating thyroid hormones and not by TSH concentrations, a point discussed in an editorial by Toft and Beckett (p295)

However, some achieve a sense of wellbeing only when serum thyroid stimulating hormone is suppressed, when we take care to ensure that serum triiodothyronine is unequivocally normal.’

Hi Everyone ,I have never felt well when TSH is under 1.00.I am aware that symptoms are the best way to know something is wrong, every time I now go up a dose I feel hyper ,then when go down a dose I feel hypo, never a day now I feel well at all.

I was on Teva until they withdrew ,I took the chemist full 6 months last supply of it as it suited me the best, but then I tried varies makes last year and settled on one make. But I think due to Tevas reason for being withdrawn ,due to dosage problems ,I think I needed a higher dose of Teva ,but a lower dose of new make ,but was taking the dose I used to take of Teva and then went hyper and cannot get stable ,does that make sense.

I have thought of taking t3 or armour but t3 and t4 ranges are normal and am frightend of taking them as they may suppress my TSH which made me feel very ill when I went hyper 9 months ago.

I always have blood test between 9.00-11.00 am.

When I first went suppressed my t3 was ove rthe range but came back within normal limits when I reduced dose.

Now TSH all ove rthe place ,but t3 and t4 all normal.
