Currently on two brands of generic, thinking of trying brand named actavis , anyone on this... Is it any good
Actavis : Currently on two brands of generic... - Thyroid UK
Actavis
What do you usually take? I think Actavis make the Lloyd's levo too so you may already be taking it if that makes sense.
Most if the information you could need is here:
thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/treatm...
We hardly ever see anyone mention Lloyds - have been wondering if they still get their own packaging at all!
People simply vary in their opinions of the three formulations. One man's meat is another man's poison.

I take Actavis (also branded Almus by Boots) and do not have any problem with it.
I was on Mercury Pharma and Wockhart and swapped to Activis I cut 50mcg in half using a pill cutter to get 35mcg. I prefer Activis and always check at the pharmacy if they have it and then ask for it. Someone on here said it was better to do this and exercise your choice at the pharmacy than get it named on a prescription. I felt unwell on MP
Sorry it should have been 25mcg
I felt unwell on MP and always have Actavis/Almus. Back in 2012 I was on TEVA and was very, very ill !! Their licence was withdrawn as they didn't deliver the correct dose!
Seems strange that the pharma's can poison us very easily but the medics are so nervous of us having NDT on the grounds that it might not deliver the correct dose!
I prefer Activis too. My pharmacist says I can't choose my brand unless the go states it on dcript
Many pharmacists are perfectly willing to make a note in their records and try to make sure you always get the one you want. Is it possible to change pharmacy to one that is compliant in this way?

Same as you I prefer activas and I found a pharmacy that's willing to order it in for me, worth shopping around as there were plenty who weren't!
I'm on Actavis which I prefer and always ask for it. My Pharmacists are fab and make sure they have some for me. And that is why I always go back to them.
I take activis thyroxine which I prefer plus liothyronine. GP wrote on my prescription "brand activis preferred unless it is not possible to obtain" This way I can get Activis from any chemist. Boots are the most flexible and have also allowed me to exclude certain batched T3. Sandra
Hi
My pharmacist has been more than helpful. I explained I wasn't getting on with MP (I believe it caused a bitter taste in my mouth - much worse than it sounds!). He offered to order in Activis for me to see how I got on and if that didn't help, he was willing to try different brands too. Anyway, in my case the Activis did the trick. Please try and find a different pharmacist. They are there to help you as much as your GP is!
Good luck xx
actavis is the only brand I can take mercury phama makes me feel very unwell the alarming thing with this brand is the heart palpitations I get
