Ferritin is in range but right at the bottom so no chance of getting a prescription supplement. I already take a nutri thyroid complex supplement daily but figure an extra iron supplement could help. Thanks

Can anyone recommend a good supplement for low ferritin?
You dont need a script for ferrous fumerate or sulphate which can be bought online. I bought a strong one, think it was 200mcg.
However, i took double dose for years and nothing happened. Remember you lose the ability to absorb iron if you have thyroid disease.
After fighting REALLY hard i got an iron infusion on the nhs. Maybe push for one, but you need to be ready to really fight for it
Hi I agree with Bluedaffodil , i took iron supplements for years to no avail, in the end i had to have an iron infusion to bring my ferrtin levels up.
I'm low as well and just started a stomach friendly supplement from healthspan-online. £5.95 for 120 14mg each tablet -I don't want high doses to start with. So far so good but we'll see. These supplements contain vit c and copper to help absorpyion of iron-also I eat more oranges. Have also cut back on tea as tannic acid can negate absorption.
I take Spatone iron water sachets (available from Boots) with a little fruit juice. Easily absorbed and don't cause constipation.
