I have all the symptoms of an underactive thyroid, I have had many tests from the GP, I have now decided to have a private test as my Father has agreed to pay for this. Can anybody recommend the best test to get and recommend a company?? Thanks guys x

Oh ok, do not have the results as they said they were normal. I live in Norfolk can I just ask to see an Endo?? and thank you by the way

It's easy to get a copy of your blood tests, just ask the surgery and say you want to keep them for your records. When Doctors say 'normal' most times we feel anything but. They rely too much on blood tests rather than on clinical symptoms.

We have a list of sympathetic doctors which means there's less chance of you wasting your money.

hi there mitch, as above you need to contact your gp and request the results [ including ranges ] ---- they cannot refuse to give them to you --- and always remember to ask for them at ALL tests ..... then if you want to post them here I am sure someone will be able to advise you to help .....alan

We have a list of NHS Endos that people have recommended to us - you can email me for it louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org I'm not sure there is anyone in Norfolk though - so you might have to travel....

For private testing, see here:

But I agree that you should post the NHS results here first as we may be able to offer help and suggestions to save your dad money! :) :)

Hi, the thing is with gps they see some results as normal when in fact they are treatable ranges. My tsh was 10. The gp wasn't interested, 24 months on i am now on 125mg of thyroxine. He prolonged my suffering by not starting me on thyroxine. His last words were we'll do one last test before I sign you off as normal. My tsh was 13.
