I'm currently taking a combination of T4 (75mg) and T3 daily (20mcg) for an underactive thyroid. I feel a lot less tired and have more clarity when taking the T3 so feel it's working for me. However, I've noticed some weight gain (7lbs) that has confused me. I exercise ...

Advice please about weight gain and loss. (T3)
Oh dear.........having just started on T3 today any more weight gain is not something I would welcome. I do hope you sort out why this is happening .
I have started on T4 ( 75mcgs) and added T3 ( 10mcgs) .
I hope you get some replies that will help you.I will watch with interest.
I will keep you posted, I'm baffled!
Well as most do I started on T4 then moved to the combo, still putting on weight. I have since dropped the T4 completely and now I am very slowly losing weight.xx
Like Beaton, I did not find that a combo worked for me, but when I went to T3 alone, only then did the accumulated weight of 30 years on T4 actually start to shift. I have lost 2 stones now since the beginning of 2013. I am 9 stones 13lbs now but still have a little way to go as I am only 5ft tall.
Well done you.
I'm going to book an appointment to see my GP in the hope of switching to T3 only. Thanks for the advice.
I've seen people mention increased appetite (thus weight gain) on t3, but if you're eating the same amount it doesn't make sense.

Don't know why but hopefully this is the one I did earlier. It is an archived site and very occasionally I cannot access. You will see there are other topics at the top of the page.
was there some more to your question?
I put on three stone in less than two years on T3 only. Lost half of it in the first six months on levo.
Can I ask a question? Sorry to 'bump' but I'm very interested in t3 only...I take 125mcg t4 and 40/50mcg of t3... How does the substitution work?
Sorry Liana1, I've no idea? I'm sure someone will pick it up in here shortly though. I too am very interested to find this out as well.
