Serum Vitamin D 65nmol/L ( 50-150)

Seems a bit low, should I take supplements?

Yes. The Vitamin D Council vitamindcouncil.org/about-v... recommends that your Vit D levels should be around 50 ng/ml. Note - that's a different unit measurement to your result. Your result is in nmol/l. If you convert your 65nmol/l to ng/ml, you get 26.04 ng/mol. So you've got a way to go before you hit 50ng/mol (which is equivalent to 124.8 nmol/l).

Here's a handy conversion tool: endmemo.com/medical/unitcon...

Yes, I'd look at taking 2-3,000iu daily at least until the summer.

I was deficient <10 and 2 months after loading and maintenance supplementation at 116. I stopped for a month but muscle cramps and joint pains resumed so I've been taking 10,000iu daily which I'll decrease to 5,000iu in the next couple of days.

I've just seen LilyMay's post - it might be better to take 5,000iu daily until you are replete >75.

Hi Clutter.

Thanks for your advice. Not sure what you mean by 2-3,000iu, I presume the tablets come in different strengths. Will let you know how I get on.

Strengths vary from 400, 800, 1,000 etc. iu=international units. I was on 40,000iu for 7 days followed by 2,000iu for 2 months to replace deficiency.

Not what you're looking for?
