results from blue horizons
hi anbuma, they look very good- wish mine were in that good a shape!
Your TSH is probably a little high for comfort and your FT4 is low in range but you appear to be converting well as your FT3 is good in range.
thank you for your response.thats interesting you think my TSH is to high as when gp tested fro it (alone)it was higher at 3.2.still dont understand what T3 and T4 are all about?
I think most people will be uncomfortable with TSH much over 1. TSH follows a circadian rhythm and fluctuates considerably over 24hrs. Next time you have a TFT aim to have it very early in the morning when your TSH will be at its highest level.
Pituitary gland produces Thyroid Stimulating Hormone to nudge thyroid gland to produce Thyroxine (T4) which is an inactive storehouse hormone.
T4 is converted in the liver to the active hormone T3. It doesn't look like you have any problem converting T4 to T3 because your T3 is in the top 75% of range, which is where one would want it to be.
Not necessarily, Shiny, it's within range so hypothyroidism is unlikely and antibodies aren't elevated which would rule out autoimmune disease, but it doesn't resolve Anbuma's symptoms or lead to a diagnosis.
It doesn't absolutely rule out thyroid dysfunction or illness because Anbuma, like most of us, doesn't know what her personal TSH is/was prior to becoming ill. All the result tells her is that her current TSH 2.76 is within the defined population range ie she is not going to be treated for hypothyroidism.
If it meant that hypothyroidism was ruled out and her doctors would drill down to find out what is wrong then it would be a good result. Sadly, it doesn't sound as if that is the case.
thank you so much fro your support,Clutter.after a tearful evening where havent stopped crying this made me feel a whole lot better.how do i convince my dr I am not making things up.
I wish I knew, Anbuma. I'm not saying you are hypothyroid but your TSH, despite being within range, is possibly why you feel unwell.
Would your GP entertain a 3 month trial on 50mcg levothyroxine to see if it relieves your symptoms?
If your GP isn't convinced that you are even subclinically hypothyroid surely s/he should be investigating your symptoms in order to relieve them?
HI Anbuma. They seem to be good. I just wanted to ask if you had your blood drawn or was it finger prick test?
Best wishes. E xx
I originally sent for the "drawn" test on the promise that they would send me details of a phlebotomist in my area to administer it,btu tehy couldn't and both surgeries said thye wouldn't do it for me.so swapped it for a finger prick test_advice to anyone best use 4th finger
It's maybe a vitamin d deficiency that's causing some of your symptoms have you had that tested . How much were the blue horizon tests I'd like mine done
I just got diagnosed vit vitamin d deficiency many symptoms same as hypo . I am normal tsh but they won't test anything other than t3. Was the blue horizon test easy to do ?
in the end I had the finger prick test as no phleb in surgeries in my area would administer the drawn test.i had the help of someone to do it for me .tried middle finger at first btu this ddint release any blood so tried 4th finger-success-I couldn't do it on my own cos its not easy deliberately piercing your own finger unless it s accidental.so I would seek assistance.
