just had an email back from the surgery enquiring about blood tests private being done there and they spoke to my DR who said he would gladly write me a letter to see a private endocrinologist .thats more expense -having paid fro the blood tests kit now ill have to pay £26 for a letter(sure that's what they charged before)and then to see the endo himself.

Hi anbuma I have seen private consultants in the past anf never haf to pay my GP to do a letter of referral

I think this varies around the country, I think its also dependent on whether the GP recommends you need to see a specialist and is therefore, going to have been doing a referral anyway or if its totally off your own back. Not that I agree with being charged mind you.
