I think NHS annual TFT just tests TSH & possibly FT4 &/or FT3 if TSH is out of range.

Cholesterol & liver function were tested at my initial GP consultation but not subsequently at endocrinology and GP appointments as far as I know, and urine was only tested at the pre-op prior to surgery.

Ask for copies with lab ref ranges or if they charge for print outs, access to view your medical records and make your own notes.

So far as I know, most people get a TSH test and that is it.

I doubt very much that you would get anything else unless the TSH is significantly out of range - in which case, they might do an FT4.

They definitely test cholesterol and liver because I've asked before. My cholesterol very low she said . I was told before more at risk of other auto immune that's why they test diabetes .

They definitely do not test either me or another person I know well for anything but TSH.

We see post after post after post of people who have had only a TSH test each year - sometimes for many years.

I really don't think it is too big a leap to suggest that is all most people get.

I must just be lucky I asked today the other thing they check me for is kidney function . I've also been asking for vitamin d testing but always got told I didn't need tested.. This year the nurse tested it and I found out today I am deficient in vitamin d!! Suppose if we keep on at them they might test more .

Of course these things do vary from one doctor to another, from one area to another. And, of course, from one patient to another - maybe they think there is some reason to be extra vigilant?
