I've been on 100mcg levo for 18 months and have sadly lost almost all my natural curl. My hair does seem to have stopped falling out, thankfully, but feels finer with very little curl. Is this a side effect of the drug?

Just out of interest, has anyone experienced a change in hair texture since being on levo?
Hi
Silly question, but is it new hair coming through that feels different? I have heard that before...
Out of interest, how are you feeling generally?
What are your latest thyroid bloods..?

I think its reasonably new hair. Its gradually lost its curl. I feel mainly ok, I peak and trough, if you know what I mean. My bloods are alright, TSH 0.17 mlu/L (0.2 - 4.0)
Free T4 16.6 pmol/L (10.0 - 20.0) but my skin is becoming dry, especially hands and feet. I've realised this subject has been covered before! S x
Hello,
My hair has gone from straight to slightly curly! and is much finer now that it has grown back - I think it was carbimazole which made it fall out, but post tt have been taking levo up unti Dec so 1.5 years. It still has different lengths with some short bits at the front. Frizz ease cream helped to give it body during regrowth and still makes my hair look thicker and healthier.
Hi there,
I am also taking Levothyroxine and like you I have noticed a change in my hair. When it was at it worst, it didn't seem to fall out, but just stopped growing, so it became very thin. Naturally my hair is very thick and has a natural wave. The hair on my head actually became limp, straight and fuzzy. I now take Liquid Iron (on the recommendation of someone on this website). It certainly has helped and has started growing more and has a little wave back. Good luck.
I was teased & made fun of all the time that I was growing up because of my frizzy curls. I`d do anything to have straight easy to manage hair!
No-one ever said that they wanted my hair, one girl said to me that my hair spoiled my appearance! & I was always getting people ask me if I was half-caste, & having to put up with being called golliwog, which i really hated!
