under active thyroid 75mg levo take in morning... - Thyroid UK
under active thyroid 75mg levo take in morning one hour before food and drink then vit d , pill , amitriptyline at night any suggestions?
Maybe you're not on the correct dose of the Levothyroxine or you maybe having trouble converting the T4 to T3, hence you still feeling tired? I personally supplement with magnesium, selenium and b-complex, as these nutrients help make energy, hormones and calm the nervous system down and the selenium should help convert T4 to T3. Perhaps try taking these also if you're not already? Only a little feedback but hope it helps at least a little
Your not leaving enough time between levo and everything else you are taking and I dont know whats worse the contraceptive pill or the vitd - I have a hunch it is the pill as it contain estrogen which can have a huge inpact of the abosroption of levo.
Try leaving two hours between eating, drinking (except water) and all other meds as it is known that a womans stomach takes two hours to empty, in other words two hours and the levo will definately have been absorbed, thats if you dont actually have absorption issues for some other reason (coeliac). You could always try taking your levo last thing at night (if you can move your nightime meds without a problem), making sure you haven't eaten for two hours beforehand, as some medic's are now realising that it absorbs better overnight with nothing to interefer with it.
Also have you had your B12, Vitd, Ferriton, Iron and Folates checked as thyroid sufferers are often low in one, if not all, of the above and this can mimic thyroid symptoms.
How long have you been taking levo and when was the last time you had your bloods checked. Do you have your last blood results to post?

How much amitriptyline are you on? It can cause increased appetite, weight gain and is well known for making people feel groggy and tired, especially in the mornings.
Also, is your thyroid optimally replaced? Many people are on higher doses than 75mg.
This is an excerpt re supplements and levothyroxine:-
Any vitamin supplement that you and your doctor agree should be added to your diet can be taken with levothyroxine, provided that you don't take your vitamin or supplement within four hours of taking your thyroid replacement hormone. Fiber supplements and high fiber foods should also be taken well after the levothyroxine has been absorbed by your body. Certain foods, including walnuts, cottonseed meal and soybean flour may also interfere with levothyroxine and should be eaten later.
Ask your GP to add some T3 (liothyronine) to your levothyroxine. Considering that many cannot convert T4 to enough T3 which is the active hormone all our cells need in order for us to function normally.
This is a good paper Shaws. I totally agree and I am wondering whether I should up my T3 as still only on 12.5 and 100mcgs Levo. Would another 12.5 be ok? Felt better on more.
